What they were dealing with
A family-run care home was struggling with poor WiFi coverage that dropped out in resident rooms and communal areas. Staff were still using paper-based care plans, making handovers slow and compliance audits stressful. The management team knew they needed to modernise but were worried about the complexity and disruption to residents.
The solution
We designed and installed enterprise-grade WiFi with access points positioned to provide full coverage throughout all resident rooms, lounges, and staff areas. We deployed managed tablets for carers to access digital care planning software, with secure logins and automatic updates handled remotely. The network was segmented to keep care systems separate from resident WiFi. Following our security recommendations, they're now pursuing Cyber Essentials certification.
Digital Care
The difference is night and day. Staff can update care records at the bedside, handovers are faster, and CQC were impressed with our digital systems. We're now working towards Cyber Essentials which we never thought we'd achieve.
