You’ve searched your pockets, your bag, and even under the cushions, and then it dawns on you: you’ve accidentally left your work phone on the table at the coffee shop.
Instant panic sets in.
It’s not just the phone itself that’s causing concern; it’s the sensitive business data stored on it. If that mobile device falls into the wrong hands, it could turn into a nightmare.
But there’s a potential solution to put your worries to rest. Microsoft and Samsung have teamed up to enhance the security of your work phones. This month, they are introducing an innovative solution designed to safeguard anyone using a Samsung Galaxy device for work.
How does it work?
They’re using something called on-device attestation. This technology allows companies to check if mobile devices have been compromised, even at their most fundamental components. Think of it as a personal security guard for your phone.
Samsung contributes its software and hardware innovations, while Microsoft brings its expertise in endpoint management to the table.
Unlike other device attestation tools that rely on a network connection and access to cloud services, this solution remains reliable even when there’s no network connectivity or for various device ownership models.
This solution will be launched alongside Microsoft Intune (formerly known as Windows Intune), a unified endpoint management service that caters to both corporate devices and those brought in by employees (BYOD – Bring Your Own Device). It will be accessible on select Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, especially those labelled as “Secured by Knox.”
So, whether you’re working in the office, a bustling coffee shop, or a secluded cabin in the woods, you can trust that your device is secure.
In the world of business, your phone is more than just a communication tool; it’s a repository of sensitive (and valuable) information. With Microsoft and Samsung collaborating on this security enhancement, that repository just became a whole lot safer.
